Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / In order to accelerate religious educative work, reforms are being carried out at the State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations. A new organization is being established at the Committee - the Department on Religious Expertise, Public Affairs and Analytic Analysis, the State Committee reported on 6 December.
In order to prevent activities of radical religious groups in Azerbaijan named Vahhabism, the State Committee is implementing a range of events. Some 150 workshops and trainings have been already held in the regions of the country. One of the purposes of the workshops is to inform the public of radical religious teachings. The Committee has also begun publishing of a religious book.
The key purpose of the new Department is to improve the control over publishing and import of religious books to Azerbaijan. Main task of the Department is to expertise religious books, to study and analyze the religious situation in the country, to organize religious educative work, and to improve the relations between the State Committee and the public.
