Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / A prohibition was imposed on import, distribution and issue of religious literature which may shatter religious stability and cause religious intension in the country.
The chairman of the State Committee on Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujev stated the policy will be continued in the future too.
In order to prevent activities of radical religious groups in Azerbaijan named Vahhabism, the State Committee is implementing a range of events. Some 150 workshops and trainings have been already held in the regions of the country. One of the purposes of the workshops is to inform the public of radical religious teachings. The Committee has also begun publishing of a religious book
During meeting dedicated to the Day of Tolerance, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Clerical Port Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh said that there were books which popularize Shiism and not cause religious hostility among banned religious books. Pashazadeh believes necessary to re-consider the list of prohibited books to the country.
