Azerbaijan, Baku /Тrend corr Z. Safarov/ Rovnag Abdullayev, head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and of Neftchi football club, has been elected as the new President of Association of Football Federation of Azerbaijan (AFFA) at the AFFA conference in its headquarters.

Most of the AFFA members voted for Abdullayev, rival for whom was the head of Amateur Football Federation Kamil Rahimov. However, there was no real rivalry and the result of the elections turned to be same as it had been forecasted by many specialists.

Abdullayev said he intends to pay more attention towards the development of football among children and juveniles, as well as the entire football infrastructure. He stressed the necessity of restoration of yard football through construction of a range of child football grounds, establishment of the football academy and improvement of work at sports boarding schools.

Taking the position of the AFFA President, Abdullayev replaced Ramiz Mirzayev, who died recently. The AFFA Vice-President Elshad Nasirov has been the acting head of organization since that time.
