Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 march / Trend corr. E.Huseyinli / The State Committee on Work with Religious Structures has reported that several publishing houses in the country are issuing religious literature without the Committee's permission.
"The State Committee should cooperate with the publishing houses in order to prevent the distribution of adverse religious literature," Hadayat Orujev, Committee chairman stated during the meeting with heads of leading publishing houses in Azerbaijan.
The religious books are imported or issued in publishing houses within the country. Permission for its distribution is given by Committee experts.
According to Orujev, in 2007, 35 appeals in connection with publishing of religious books were submitted to State Committee. Permission was only for given to 20. The publishing of two religious books were totally prohibited.
Attending the meeting were officials of the Science Centre 'Azerbaijan National Encyclopaedia', publishing houses Azernashr, Ganjlik, Adiloglu, Apostrof and Shirvannashr and director of the Commercial Production Firm Ulu.
