Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 June /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The lawsuit by a group of landowners of Ranjbar village of Azerbaijan's district of Hajigabul against BP Azerbaijan, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and State Committee on Land and Cartography was partially satisfied.
The land owners appealed to the court with regards to limitations of their rights to use their lands due to construction of the oil pipeline and required compensation payment for the material damage.
According to the information provided by the League of Labor Rights, the key stage of the court proceeding which commenced in 2006 was complete.
The Appeal Court of Shirvan made a judgment paying compensation to the landowners due to limitation in their rights to use their land.
The court made a judgment paying off damage not in amount required by the landowners, but determined by the court expertise.
The landowners will make an appeal to the European Court on Human Rights due to violation of article 1 of protocol (right of property) and article 6 of Convention.
The League states that the process which had lasted for more than two years completed with the most successful judgment made in favor of claimants.
In the near future, the landowners will begin the same process against State Company Azerigaz.
