Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 June /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The number of judges of the Supreme Court and Appeal Court will be increased. The list of the judge candidates was prepared during the meeting of the Court and Legal Council, which took place on 6 June.
Candidatures of six judges were put forward to the Supreme Court, a source told Trend . The source did not call the names of the candidates.
The list of candidates was submitted to the President, who will direct it to be confirmed by the Parliament.
Efforts failed to scratch information from the Court and Legal Council.
Currently, there are 327 judges in Azerbaijan, with 27 in the Supreme Court, 31 - Appeal Court of Baku, 7 - Appeal Court of Ganja, 7 - Sumgayt, 7 - Shirvan and 7 Sheki.
According to the legislation, 45 seats are envisaged for Supreme Court, 50 - Appeal Court of Baku, 14 - other Appeal courts.
For number of judges, Azerbaijan occupies the last place amongst the European countries.
