US Higher Schools’ Branches May Open in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 June / Trend corr M. Aliyev/ Branches of US higher schools may open in Azerbaijan.
" Azerbaijan has a great potential and aspiration to improve its education system. I think branches of US higher schools may open in Azerbaijan in near future," Assistant US Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Goli Ameri said at meeting with students and representatives of Azerbaijani higher schools on 20 June.
Ameri did not specify exact date for opening of the branches, but said "the same branches of US higher schools are already operating in Oman."
"Opening of branches in Baku will be considered and implemented in near future," Ameri stressed.
An agreement on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States was signed on 19 June, enabling graduates of Azerbaijani higher schools to continue education in US Universities' postgraduateship. The agreement was undersigned by Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov and Assistant US Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Goli Ameri to be implemented within 5 years. Bachelors wanting to study postgraduateship in the United States will be selected by unified special commission of both countries.
