Sentence Passed upon Condemned Who Escaped from Isolation Cell

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 June / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / A sentence passed upon the condemned, who escaped from the isolation cell in Ganja City.

Rahib Hashimov, 27, the resident of the Khangervend village in Goranboy region, escaped from the isolation cell 2. Under the sentence by the Nizami District Court, Hashimov was sentenced to 2 years and six months of imprisonment.

Hashimov was charged with robbery and fraud and in 2007, and was imprisoned to three years and six months of imprisonment. Hashimov worked in household brigade. Later, the employees of the isolation cell were punished. According to court decision, Ruslan Huseynov, assistant on duty, Elshad Mehdiyev and Mail Mammadov, jailers, were given a written undertaking not to leave a place.

The investigation over the aforesaid persons on the contravening Article 314 (negligence) of the Criminal Code was completed and was submitted to the Nizami Distric Court for consideration.

Nizami District Court told Trend that the preliminary hearing was held over the case.

The court process is scheduled for 2 July.

According to the order by Fikrat Mammadov, Justice Minister, Firdovsi Niftaliyev, Chief of the Isolation Cell, and Ibrahim Mamamdov, Deputy Chief, were dismissed.

As a result of the investigation held in the isolation cell nine employees were dismissed from their positions.

Under the Justice Minister's order, Zahid Huseynov, Deputy Chief in the isolation cell 3 based in Shuvalan, was appointed as the chief in Ganja based isolation cell.
