Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 July/ Trend , corr E. Aliyev / The United States calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to solve the problem of jail of mass media representatives.
"We think that no journalist should be in jail because of his work," Anne Derse , US Ambassador to Azerbaijan said to media on 22 July.
There are 3 imprisoned journalists in Azerbaijan - Eynulla Fatullayev , editor-in-chief of Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan, Ganimat Zahid , editor-in-chief of Azadlig daily and Mirza Sakit , the writer for the same paper.
Derse called on the authorities to take measures to release imprisoned journalists. This move may give a great push to the development of democracy in Azerbaijan, she said.
