J.Babayeva / Financing of projects, allocated by youth organizations in the first competition to receive grants, which was announced by the Council on State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) under the Azerbaijani President, is not proportional with the number of youths in the country. This was told Trend by Ceyhun Osmanli, a member of the Council of Founders of Irali (Ahead) Public Youth Movement.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree to appoint members to the Council on State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President.
Under the Statement on the Council on State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President, approved by the Azerbaijani President dating 13 December 2007, the Council will unite 11 members, three state representatives, eight appointed out of candidates, nominated by NGOs.
Some AZN 1.5mln was allocated to the first competition, implemented by the Council for NGOs. Some AZN 200,000 was directed to organizational issues and AZN 300,000 - projects. First competition was announced on 12 June and completed on 12 July. The names of 192 NGO, which succeeded at the competition, were announced on 14 August.
Osmanli supports the idea to allocate more financial aid to youth organizations. "Council may have to render more financial aid to youth organizations," Osmanli stated.
Youth organizations took an active participation at the competition. "Some succeeded projects of youth organizations were financed. The projects covered international relations, health, ecology, refugees and IDPs," Osmanli said.
