Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 August / Trend , corr. R.Ergun/ For the first time, Azerbaijani gymnasts will join the Olympiad both as group and individually. "Our gymnasts for group performance will fight amongst 12 teams. The teams succeeding to join the eight will gain a chance to participate in the final," Farid Gayibov, Secretary General of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), told Trend on 15 August.
Azerbaijani gymnastics team for group performance will leave for Beijing Olympiad on 16 August.
Gayibov said that the trainings of the gymnasts in Azerbaijani district of Masalli were very productive.
"Our gymnasts made exemplary performances in Masalli sport complex. Some 300 people watched the performances of our team. I think that the performances in Masalli were useful for the local people as well," Gayibov said. Together with the group team, Azerbaijan will be represented at the Beijing Olympiad by Dinara Gimatova and Aliya Garayeva.
