Romania wins women's pairs in rowing

Romania on Saturday won the gold medal in the women's pairs of the Olympic rowing competition when they beat China in a tight race, dpa reported.

For Georgeta Andrunache, who was partnered by Viorica Susanu, it was the third consecutive gold in the women's pairs.

The local team of Wu You and Gao Yulan had a particularly strong finish and managed to push past Belarus at the end to take silver.
