Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 September/ Trend , corr S. Babayeva/ The Azerbaijani government believes there is favorable condition for the freedom of media in Azerbaijan.
"President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has created all conditions for the free media in the country," said Elnur Aslanov, head of Political Analysis and Dataware Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan at the 30th meeting of Executive Committee of Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Baku.
He said impartiality and publicity are critical to modern media, he said.
"This factor enables to create international atmosphere based on trust. We should not forget that some parts of the earth are caught up in the conflict of ethnic territories. The major cause for delaying resolution of such conflicts is usually the public opinion formed by media outlets," Aslanov added. He believes politicians sometimes become 'captives' of information policy.
More steps will be taken to integrate to world, more significance religious factors will assume and more obvious will be mentality related elements. Therefore, mass media must be tolerant enough, he said.
"The information is becoming global day by day. Unfortunately, sometimes information is distorted which serves some geo-political interests. Real factors are not taken in to consideration. The world community and media must not be indifferent to violation of international law and occupation of one country's territory by another," Aslanov said.
