Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 November / Trend corr, J.Babayeva/ The Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources supplied hospitals, schools and military units with 47,000 cu.m of firewood to prevent cutting down forests in winter months.
"The Ministry got firewood from the fallen and dried trees. The Ministry has taken this step taking into consideration of realities, although there are not firewood in heat balance of Azerbaijan," Huseyn Bagirov, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, told journalists on 26 November.
Facts on cutting down forests are revealed in some regions and villages of Azerbaijan during winter months. There is 989.4h-forest fund in Azerbaijan.
The Minister said that supervision over forests has been strengthened. "Sometimes, people, who supervise over forests, create conditions to cut down forests and they are dismissed with this reason," Bagirov said.
