Azerbaijani Chess Player Retains Leadership in Grand-Prix FIDE Tournament

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 18 / corr. Trend R. Ergun / The game between Azerbaijani grand masters Teymur Rajabov and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov ended in a draw in the fourth round of Grand-Prix FIDE.

Another Azerbaijani chess player Vugar Hashimov played with Armenian Vladimir Akopyan in the same round of the tournament held in Russian town Elista. This game ended in a draw.

After four rounds of Grand-Prix Rajabov is a leader with three points. Scoring 2.5 Hashimov shares 2-4 places with his rivals. Mamedyarov, scoring 2 points, ranks the 7th place.

In the next round Rajabov's rival will be Hungarian Peter Leko, Gashimov's rival - Russian Alexander Grishuk but Mamedyarov's - Uzbek Rustam Kasimjanov.
