Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 22 / Trend , K.Zarbaliyeva/ Azerbaijan's former health minister charged with corruption related crimes applied to the Justice Ministry to pass medical examinations by doctors in trust.
Agaveyis Shahverdi, lawyer of former minister Ali Insanov, said to Trend that he met with the former minister at the treatment center of Penitentiary Service on Dec. 22.
The European Court on Human Rights has sent a letter to the Azerbaijani government requesting to ensure Insanov's treatment, to hospitalize him and set a diagnosis by independent experts.
Azerbaijani government is expected to fulfill this request by the European Court until Dec. 20.
The former minister has been taken to treatment centre after the European Court's letter.
The former minister submitted a list of candidates for doctor-experts in the commission on Dec. 22, the lawyer said.
The doctor commission will make a decision whether to have an operation on the former minister after results of the treatment.
This issue delays, because the former minister has not yet submitted a full composition to form a commission, Rafael Mehdiyev, chief of the Central Health Office at the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan, said to Trend on Dec. 22.
He suffers from a "hole" in his spine.
Former health minister Ali Insanov, arrested in Oct. 2005, has been sentenced to 11years in jail with charges of corruption related crimes, attempt of coup d'etat and insurgency.
