Georgian Azerbaijanis stage protest on Red bridge check point

Georgian Azerbaijanis stages a protest near the Red bridge check point on the Azerbaijani-Armenia border. The protest participants demand restoration of the market that was abolished several years ago.

Residents of three republics ( Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia) carried out vivid trading on the market. Several years ago the market was closed because of contraband facts.

The protest participants addressed to Georgian President Saakashvili to assist to recover the market.

According to statistics 70 percent of residents in Georgia are Georgians, 380,000 -Armenians, 350,00 -Azerbaijanis, 207,000 - Russians, 150,000 -Ossetins, 100,000 -Abkhazs, Kurds Udins and others.

According to non-official data, over 500,000 Azerbaijanis live in the Kvemo-Kartli (Borchali) region of Georgia.
