Educational co-operation of CIS countries to be discussed in Mink

The conference of ministers of education and the Council on Educational Cooperation of CIS countries will be held May 14-15 in Minsk.

Educational cooperation will be the focus of two major interstate forums.

The first event will be the 16th Conference of Ministers of Education of the CIS, which will be held on 14 May. It will focus on the issues of cooperation in education and science, conducting Youth of the Year in 2009 and the Year of Science and Innovation in 2010, conducting the 1st Congress of Teachers of CIS countries, CIS Executive Committee said on May 13.

The conference will be attended by the heads of educational institutions of Belarus, Russia and Tajikistan. Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Ukraine will be represented at the level of deputy ministers and the authorized representatives of ministries of education.

Within the event, the National Library of Belarus will host the International Conference "Vocational training and education for sustainable development." Its organizers were the Ministry of Education, UNESCO Moscow Office and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS member states.

The second meeting - 22nd meeting of the CIS Council on Educational Cooperation will be held on May 15. The agenda for the meeting included 15 questions, including proposals for an inventory of the legal base of cooperation in education, plans to expand the use of distance education technologies, training, retraining and upgrading of university teachers, the draft agreement on training of teachers of educational institutions in CIS countries.
