On June 1 the Azerbaijani public movement Ireli is launching the Academy of Information Technologies project.

The project fully covering the country targets attracting 50,000 people a year to using computers and internet, Ireli Chairman Jeyhun Osmanly said to Trend on May 30.

The experience shows that developed countries achieved success first of all by forming tremendous human capital, Osmanly said. "Correct software is the primary term to form intellectual human capital in the 21st century. In the modern world information is firstly related to internet, which diminished the universe," he said.

Presently, the Azerbaijani president is holding on high pace the computerization and IT development program in the country. "Nevertheless, our monitoring shows that in most places not only pupils, but also people responsible computer literacy are not enough active in using computers. As a result, computers in our century of rapidly progressing technology are outdating before staying in business," Osmanly said.

By this project Ireli intends to attract residents of regions to forming information society, assist them to overcome local boundaries and integrate the world. "50,000 per year - it is really hard, but quite possible," Osmanly said.

This is a scaly social project, covering all regions and cities of the country. It targets not only the youth, but young teachers, who will teach their students new skills and boost the number of participants in the project. Partners in the project are the ministries of communications and information technologies, youth and sports, as well as HP, Microsoft, Bestcomp, Yumroo.

Ireli has trained instructors, who will teach all new skills, technical staff and a work task, allocated special buses for groups who will be dispatched to regions. In the second stage of the project it is planned to establish computer classes.

"Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev initiated a concept of human capital development. Ireli always puts efforts for new generation of reformers, modern thoughts implying a character of modern citizen, understanding reforms held by the head of state and really meeting them. We think this project will help to establish a sound human capital in Azerbaijan. I am sure it will grow young people which will glorify the motherland with their achievements in science and technique," the Ireli leader said.
