Sentence was made to individuals accused of smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan.
Upon the decision by the Court on Heinous Crimes, an Iranian Rafayyat Mikaili was sentenced to nine years in prison, a citizen of Azerbaijan Nazim Fatiyev - to 12 years in prison.
The court appointed compulsory treatment from drug addiction for Fatiyev during his imprisonment.
They are accused under articles 206.3.2 (smuggling), 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (illegal purchase, storage, transport, transfer and sale of narcotics in large quantities) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
They were arrested on February 4 this year as a result of operational activities taken by staff of the Ministry of National Security.
