An Azerbaijani court has toughened the punishment on the head of legal department of the The Fourth Chamber of Power newspaper accused of swindle.
On Nov. 10, the Baku Appeals Court examined the Prosecutor General's appeal, filed on the sentence against Faig Mammadov and his wife Jeyran Mammadova.
The court decided to change the verdict issued by the Serious Crime Court.
A 7-year suspended sentence was changed with 3-year imprisonment.
Faig Mammadov and his wife Jeyran Mammadova abused the trust of citizens, confiscated their apartments.
They are charged under the Article 178.3.2 (swindle with causing damage in the large size) of the Criminal Code.
