Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 14 / Trend , M. Aliyev /
The Azerbaijani state news agency AzerTaj and UNESCO Moscow Office in Baku conduct a workshop to enhance the professionalism of Azerbaijani journalists reporting about the ecology.
The attitude towards the coverage of environmental issues should be changed in domestic journalism, AzerTaj director-general Aslan Aslanov said at the opening of the workshop.
He said that citizens do not want to read terrible news about the floods, natural disasters. Journalists must prepare mainly educational materials on ecology.
During the workshop Aslanov also expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that environmental news is posted on the last pages of newspapers, while special attention should be given to these issues.
First Secretary of the Azerbaijani National Commission of UNESCO Gunay Efendiyeva familiarized media representatives with the major causes of global climate change, their influence on Azerbaijan and the region.
