The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry held regular monitoring of pollution in the transboundary Kur and Araz Rivers during the first decade of February, the ministry told Trend today.
During the first decade of February, water consumption in the Kur River decreased by 6 cubic meters per second to 207 cubic meters per second.
The monitoring found that phenol and copper are strong pollutants. Biogenic substances exceeded the norm at points where the river is subjected to transboundary contamination in Georgia and Armenia.
Water consumption in the Araz River was 86.4 cubic meters per second.
The water's oxygen regime at all points remained at the corridor of 6.65-7.78 milligrams per liter.
