OSCE Baku Office and the Press Council of Azerbaijan will realize a joint project on the adoption of the Law on Defamation and on the improvement of the rules for professional behavior of journalists.
"International experts will be invited to participate in the preparation of the bill on defamation. An extensive forum of journalists will be held in the end, with the participation of international experts," chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov said to a press conference March 15.
According to Amashov, after preparation the law will be presented to the Parliament.
"В связи с этим мы проведем отдельные встречи с депутатами. Постараемся, чтобы до конца года законопроект "О диффамации" был вынесен на обсуждение в парламенте", - сказал Амашев.
"In this regard, we will hold separate meetings with MPs. We will try to present the bill on defamation to the Parliament by the end of 2010," Amashov said.
According to the head of OSCE Baku Office Ali Bilge Cankorel, they are ready to support the development projects of Azerbaijani press.
