"The Public Committee rejects the policy of diktates and "double standards" towards sovereign and free Cuba. It calls on the ruling circles in the West to put an end to unfair exploitation of the terms "human rights" and "democracy" against the independence and freedom-loving peoples, while the situation with human rights and democracy in Western countries is not well, " the statement said.

The Azerbaijani Public Committee for the Rights of five Cuban heroes joined the international "Network in Defense of Humankind," the Committee said.

Public Committee rejects the policy of diktat and "double standards" against a sovereign and free Cuba, and expects the ruling circles in the West end of unfair exploitation of the terms "human rights" and "democracy" against the independence and freedom-loving peoples, while in Western countries human rights and democracy is not all right, "- said in a statement.

The Public Committee for the Protection of Cuban Five's rights was created in early 2010 on the initiative of People's Socialist Party of Azerbaijan. It is headed by NSPA deputy chairman Ibrahim Asadli.

At present, more than 130 public committees operate to protect the rights of the five Cubans. They call on the U.S. government to cancel the sentence. The UN Commission on Human Rights stood for protection of the Cuban Five's rights.

"The Cuban Five" includes Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez. Five Cuban agents are convicted to long prison terms on charges of espionage, conspiracy to murder and other crimes in the United States.
