Riga hosts conference on role of Latvian-Azerbaijani society in integration processes in Latvia

Latvian Center of Azerbaijani Culture "Ojag" in cooperation with the State Committee for Diaspora of Azerbaijan organized a conference in Riga "The role of the Latvian-Azerbaijani society in the integration processes in Latvia", the State Committee reported.

Latvian Center of Azerbaijani Culture "Ojag" in cooperation with the State Committee for Diaspora of Azerbaijan organized a conference in Riga "The role of the Latvian-Azerbaijani society in the integration processes in Latvia", the State Committee reported.
Conference was opened by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Latvia Tofik Zulfugarov.

In his speech at the conference, Latvian MP Boris Tsilevichs mentioned Azerbaijan's great achievements in economic and human development, the successful solution of difficult problems of refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of Armenia's occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts - 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory. "Surely, we support and will actively support the process of Azerbaijan's integration into the European community, which reinforce the cooperation between the European Union, Latvia and Azerbaijan," said Tsilevichs.

Addressing the conference, MP Oskars Kastens focused attention on European Parliament resolution adopted May 20, describing it as progressive for development of cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan.
The role of the center "Ojag" in the integration of Azerbaijanis in Latvia was noted by the representative of the Ministry of Justice of Latvia Irina Vasilyeva, Head of Education Department of Riga Duma, Ivars Balamovskis.
