Azerbaijan, Baku, July 7 / Trend M.Aliyev /
The level of pollution in the Kur River does not exceed dangerous levels, Georgian Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Goga Khachidze told journalists in Azerbaijan's Gabala region today.
"The chemical and biological pollution does not exceed dangerous levels and there is no reason for panic," he said.
According to Khachidze, Georgia is using new technologies to minimize pollution.
"Not only Georgia, but also international organizations check the level of contamination," he said.
Khachidze added that it is necessary to continue cooperation across borders and to jointly manage wastes.
Based on the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry's regular monitoring of pollution in the transboundary Kur and Araz rivers, phenol and copper levels are high.
