The 2010-2011 school year will begin in Azerbaijan tomorrow.
About 1.359 million students will study in 4,546 public schools this year. They will be trained and educated by 169,498 teachers, the Azerbaijani Education Ministry told Trend today.
Roughly 121,000 students will enter first grade. Some 116,930 students will study in 36 higher educational institutions and 19,430 students will study in 15 private universities.
This year, there are 12,800 high school teachers, while 2,090 private university teachers.
Azerbaijan built 49 new school buildings for 17,434 pupils this year.
Repairs were carried out at 356 schools, nine vocational high schools, 32 preschools and five afterschool educational institutions.
