Council of Europe pleased with Azerbaijan's youth policy

The Council of Europe welcomed the policy that Azerbaijan pursues in the field of youth and sports.

This issue was discussed at the 1101st meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE) in Strasbourg, the Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry reported.

The meeting discussed issues such as activities in the framework of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS), relations with the World Anti-Doping Agency, the CoE-EU cooperation in the field of sports. CoE Secretary General presented a report on the results of the 18th Informal Conference of the CoE Ministers of Sports in Baku on Sept. 22.

Speaking at the meeting, Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov stressed a successful development of the cooperation in the field of youth and sports over ten years of Azerbaijan's membership in the Council of Europe and the country's compliance with the principles of the European Sports Charter.

Rahimov said Azerbaijan has acceded to both of the Council of Europe Conventions in the field of sports and follows them.

During the visit, Rahimov met with CoE Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Director of CoE Youth and Sport Ralf-Rene Weingärtner and Coordinator for Intercultural Dialogue and Director General of Education, Culture and Heritage, Youth and Sport Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, and familiarized with the Youth Centre of the CoE.

The CoE officials noted the significant progress in the implementation of youth and sports programs in Azerbaijan in terms of respecting the values of CoE.
