A park named after Azerbaijani national leader, a brilliant personality of the Turkic world Heydar Aliyev was opened in the Kartepe city of the Turkish province of Kocaeli, the press service of the State Committee for Diaspora (SCD) reported on Monday.
In his speech, the head of the Kartepe municipality Sukru Karabalyk said that the main purpose of naming the park after great leader Heydar Aliyev is to perpetuate the memory of this brilliant son of the Turkic world in Kartepe and contribute to Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood.
Earlier, the State Committee signed a protocol with the Kyartepe municipality of Turkish Kocaeli province, which envisages establishing a park named after Heydar Aliyev on the territory of the municipality.
The opening ceremony was attended by Azerbaijan's consul general in Istanbul Hasan Zeynalov, representative of the State Committee for Diaspora Elnar Mammadov, deputy governor of Kocaeli Mustafa Unlyusoy, chairman of the municipality Ibrahim Karaosmanoglu, chairman of the Kartepe municipality Sukru Karabalyk, chairman of the Federation of Azerbaijani Societies of Turkey Bilal Dyundar, public representatives and Azerbaijani living in the fraternal country.
