Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili tasted a giant khachapuri (Georgian cheesy bread) in Batumi on Jan. 2 during festivities. Saakashvili also tasted Adzharian wine and other traditional dishes.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili tasted a giant khachapuri (Georgian cheesy bread) in Batumi on Jan. 2 during festivities. Saakashvili also tasted Adzharian wine and other traditional dishes.

He said that Adjara will produce a new wine this year. It will provide competition to the famous French wines such as Chablis. 

The Georgian President also noted that this year there will be large construction in Batumi. "Before we built the 20-30 meter buildings. But we will build the 40, 50, 60 meter-buildings this year. We will build the Technological University in accordance with new technologies," Saakashvili said.

He said that it is planned to build a ski resort in Adjara.

The President also drove a plane across Batumi today.
