Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.6 / Trend, M.Aliyev /
A term of temporary one-month ban imposed on bird hunting was extended for another month from Dec.1 in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry spokesperson Irada Ibrahimova told Trend today.
She said that the ban was extended due to the preventive measures against bird flu or H1N1 virus in the Azerbaijani territory.
According to Ibrahimova, migration of wild birds from the South-Eastern Asia to Azerbaijan, having the same border with Georgia and Turke,y increases probability of the virus penetration into the country.
"Right of using the hunting permission issued to the ministry's departments has been suspended for another month," Ibrahimova said.
Taking into account the hunters' appeals, hunting of waders in the territory of the country started on Nov.5, 2010.
