Employees of the State Social Protection Fund of Azerbaijan (SSPF) commemorated the victims of the 20 January tragedy.
The State Fund hosted an event on the 21st anniversary of 20 January tragedy, the Fund reported. One minute silence was paid to memory of the victims.
20 January events are a bright heroic page in the history of Azerbaijan, are a pinnacle of the struggle for independence, SSPF chairman
Salim Muslimov said in his speech.
"In spite of obstacles by the Soviet regime, putting his life at risk, Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev arrived at the permanent mission of Azerbaijan in Moscow and denounced the organizers of the crimes before the world community," he said.
According to Muslimov, after National Leader Heydar Aliyev returned to political power in 1994, political and legal assessment was given to the bloody events in January, and the culprit of the tragedy were named.
Families of victims and citizens who have become disabled during the January events have been comprehensively covered by the state care, said Muslimov.
