Turkey and Azerbaijan are cooperating in the sphere of justice at the highest level, Turkish Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin said in an interview with Trend on the eve of his visit to Baku, scheduled for February.

"The Turkish and Azerbaijani justice ministries cooperate at the highest level within an agreement on bilateral legal and commercial cooperation in the field of justice signed in May 2002, as well as within 10 other agreements on a wide range of issues of bilateral partnership," Ergin said.

The minister stressed the importance of the protocol on cooperation in the field of justice between Azerbaijan and Turkey signed in March 2001.

"The protocol created the opportunity to exchange experiences in the organizational issues of judicial bodies, mutual aid in the issues of judicial and prosecutorial staff training and support staff, and holding scientific conferences on issues of mutual interest," Ergin said.

He added that the needs of each party are consistently met by the parties in the field of justice, as well as in the rapid completion of legal procedures.

"Minor problems occurring between the legal bodies of the two countries are mutually resolved in the shortest possible time," Ergin said.
