Azerbaijan recorded fires in the forest area of 49.97 hectares in 2010. It was stated at the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry's colegium meeting.
The country's forest fund avoided great damages as a result of measures taken to eliminate and prevent fires.
More than 2.8 million trees and shrubs were plated in Baku and Absheron peninsula and more than 8 million in the whole country in 2010 under the "Year of Ecology".
In 2010, the ministry held events to restore the forests on an area of 10,000 hectares and work on irrigation projects - 32,000 hectares.
