Azerbaijani Copyright Agency Head Kamran Imanov said Armenians have appropriated proverbs, music, cuisine, carpets and other intellectual property owned by Azerbaijan and its people.
"Lately, Armenians claim that a few tales of the Kitabi Dede Gorgud" epic belong to them and are written by them," Imanov told journalist today. "In addition, they appropriated the foundation of Baku to themselves and claim that they have great merits in building the city. Books were written and directed to the relevant international organizations to expose Armenian plagiarism."
Imanov said that about 8,200 works have been registered as objects of copyright in Azerbaijan. These include computer programs, musical and scientific works. The works that passed registration receives state support and state-protected copyrights.
The agency receives about 20 appeals monthly for registration of intellectual property.
