The final round of essay contest amongst school children, dedicated to the 88th anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, took place at the school named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva in Baku on April 24.
Education Minister Misir Mardanov told reporters at the opening ceremony that the contest that has been conducted since 2007 is attended by pupils of 7-11th forms of secondary schools.
He said the final stage of the contest involves 97 pupils, and the winners will be announced on May 6 at a ceremony at the Gulistan Palace. Mardanov said that a book will be compiled from the best essays of the contest.
In general, the first stages of essay contest were attended by up to 700,000 students.
The contest is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies and the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan.
