72 percent of crimes disclosed in Baku

About 72 percent of crimes recorded in Baku has been revealed in the first quarter of this year, said the Head Police Department of Baku.

A total of 2,671 crimes have been recorded in Baku in the first three months of 2011. Of these, 2,393 crimes were low severity and did not represent great danger to the public, 278 - grave and especially grave crimes.

About 72 percent of the total number of crimes, was revealed, of which 68.5 percent are the most heinous, including attempt to murder, rape, kidnapping, blackmail, car theft, said the department. All these crimes were disclosed.

During the reported period, crimes were committed against 746 persons, including last year. Crimes committed against 695 persons were disclosed, which is 94.4 percent.

Together with the cases that have been in production from last year, there were revealed: 77.8 percent of 12 crimes related to intentional murder, 100 percent of crimes related to murder, 60 percent - banditry, 57.1 percent - robberies. Also there were identified 10 groups consisting of 29 persons who had committed 15 robberies and assaults, and five groups consisting of 13 persons who had committed seven burglaries.

Compared with the same period of last year, the number of heinous crimes fell by 29.8 percent - 118 facts, robberies - 12.7 percent - eight facts, burglaries - 8.6 percent - 19 facts, fraud - 23.5 percent - 44 facts, but the number of crimes related to murder and with inflicting less harm remains unchanged.

During the reported period, as a result of the fight against illicit drug trafficking, 60 kg 787 grams of drugs have been withdrawn. As a result of operations to detain the criminals who were wanted, of 543 criminals, there were arrested 192, who represents 35.4 percent of the total.

Compared with the same period of the last year, search operations have decreased by 55 facts.
