MP: Azerbaijan should improve advertising legislation

Azerbaijan should improve the advertising legislation, a member of the Committee on Culture of the Azerbaijani Parliament, MP Jale Aliyeva said.
She said that the language and spelling of outdoor advertising are in a terrible state. The letters are omitted, the grammar rules are not observed. The words, not corresponding to the language lexicons, are used.
"Azerbaijan has passed a law "Advertising"," she said. "The norms of the Azerbaijani language are also governed by the law. However, there are gaps. So, the problems occur. I think it is necessary to improve the existing legislation".
President Aliyev has recently stressed the importance of protecting the native language from outside influences at the annual general meeting of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences.
She said that a democratic atmosphere extends to many spheres in conditions of pluralism, in which we live in. "But there are some values," she said. "It is a civic duty of everyone to preserve and deliver them to future generations".
She said that special attention is paid to the Azerbaijani language in the law "Culture" which is under development.
