The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry appealed to the population in connection with the start of the beach season, calling on them not to swim in areas prohibited for swimming, Emergency Situations Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov told journalists on Wednesday.
The number of drowning cases on beaches has reduced by 95 percent since 2005, Heydarov said.
He said drowning cases are mainly recorded in areas where the sign "swimming prohibited" is placed.
