A Human Rights Month will be held in Azerbaijan from May 18 to June 18 as part of Human Rights Day on June 18. The initiative was put forth by Ombudsman Elmira.

A Human Rights Month will be held in Azerbaijan from May 18 to June 18 as part of Human Rights Day on June 18. The initiative was put forth by Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova.

The month aims to identify the achievements human rights activists and define solutions to continued problems in human rights, the Ombudsman Apparatus told Trend.

Human rights' organizations, state agencies, NGOs and other groups will undertake various activities and discussions on the achievements and challenges; information will be presented about the Ombudsman during the month of events. The time will also be spent on making suggestions for more effective enforcement of human rights.

On June 16-18 the compiled information will be presented at the IX International Baku Conference of Ombudsmen, which is supported by UNESCO. The conference theme is "Cultural Rights of Minorities and Immigrants: Legal Aspects and Implementation."
