"The Azerbaijanis living in Germany celebrated Azerbaijan's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Peoples thronged to streets at midnight and congratulated each other. The Azerbaijani and Turkish diaspora representatives celebrated this victory together," the European Azerbaijanis Congress President Bashar Komur told Trend on Sunday.

"It is impossible to explain this joyfulness with words. Diplomats, ordinary people and intellectuals celebrated this victory," he added.

It is a great victory for Land of Fires to be winner in Europe, he said. According to Komur, Azerbaijanis living abroad have great support in it.
"We are very glad that Azerbaijani culture made itself known. Gladness in Baku that we watched on television was also felt in European cities. The Azerbaijani and Turkish diaspora representatives celebrated this victory together," he underscored.

Azerbaijani duo Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell / Nikki) with their pop-ballad "Running Scared" won the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, held at the Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf.

As a result of sms-voting and the decision of jury winner is Azerbaijani duet Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell / Nikki) with the song "Running Scared" take first place (221 points). Italy / Raphael Gualazzi - "Madness Of Love" (189 points) ranked second, while the third was Sweden / Eric Saade - "Popular" (185 points).

Azerbaijan received the highest score - 12 points from Russia, Turkey and Malta. Azerbaijan took 10 points from Ukraine, Greece, Croatia, San Marino, Romania and Moldova. The duo received 8 points from Austria, Cyprus, Iceland, Poland, Georgia, Albania, Portugal, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Estonia.
