The Third Congress of Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress (BAC) will be held in late September, BAC Honorary President Sahil Gasimov told Trend.

He said officials from Azerbaijan and the Netherlands, MPs of both countries and representatives of the friendship groups, diaspora organizations of the GUAM countries and representatives of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Azerbaijani and Turkish diasporas operating in different countries around the world, journalists and art workers will be invited to the Congress.

Gasimov said the fifth anniversary of the BAC will be marked in November.
"One of the main achievements of BAC for the past five years is that the Azerbaijanis have been already recognized and accepted in these countries as an ethnic group. Official circles in the Benelux countries recognize the Azerbaijanis as ethnic group, often meet with representatives of our community," Gasimov said.

Since its establishment, BAC spreads the realities of Azerbaijan in Europe, informs the public of the countries, where the Azerbaijanis reside, about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and conducts organized struggle against the Armenian lobby, he said.

"During its five-year activity the BAC triumphed over the Armenian diaspora dozens times. One can cite as an example banning sale of the movie "Hope dies last" shot by Susan Kruger, removal of movie "A Story of People in War and Peace" from the Rotterdam International Documentary Film Festival, repeated removal of materials about Karabakh from the Armenian stands at tourism exhibition in Utrecht, preventing attempts to sell food products under the brand name "Archax Fruit" (Karabakh fruit) in the Netherlands and informing relevant authorities about the company, exporting these products, holding rallies associated with the Khojali tragedy in front of the parliament building in Brussels, as well as naming one of Rotterdam's streets in honor of Baku," Gasimov said.
