Ramadan is a month of brotherhood and unity, Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov said at a conference held in the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO).
"In some Shiite mosques, Sunnis are not allowed to Taraweeh-namaz. This is not correct. Ramadan is a month of brotherhood and unity. Such things are unacceptable," Orujov said.
He said some problems occur, including with azan time in Ramadan month.
"At present, the main problem is associated with a Ramadan month calendar. Some mosques hold holidays on the calendar of CMO, and some on other calendars. This leads to the fact that neither azan time nor date of celebration coincide in different mosques. This happens in some Azerbaijani regions," Orujov said.
Ramadan month will begin on Aug.1 this year on the Gregorian calendar.
