Women are represented in every sphere in Azerbaijan, chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova said at the opening of the International Conference "Role of Women in the 21st century: responsibility of women in politics" in Baku on Monday.
The conference, organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA), was held in the Parliament. It is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of independence of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
Huseynova said that women take an active part in political processes in Azerbaijan. They are represented in politics, business, health, education, sports and the armed forces.
"We must make efforts for women to be interested in their development in new areas," he said. "Gender equality has reached a new level, and conditions must be created for women to be able to use their full potential."
She said that the relations between the Turkic-speaking countries are developing successfully, and that it is necessary to develop ties between women-entrepreneurs in TurkPA countries.
