Starting from next year, tourists will be able to ski in the Shahdag Winter and Summer Tourism Complex in the Gusar region, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev said at a meeting with Argentina's Tourism Minister Carlos Enrique Meyer on Saturday.
The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan increases every year, Garayev said.
"If five years ago, less than one million tourists arrived in Azerbaijan, in 2011 the figure hit 2.234 million people. Some 40 - 50 large and small hotels are built in Azerbaijan every year. Now 42 hotels are under construction," Garayev said.
The Shahdag Winter and Summer Tourism Complex is under construction in 32 kilometers from Gusar region's center. Construction of the complex is divided into four phases. At present, construction work is carried out within the first phase.
Gusar region's center is located in 183 km north of Baku.
