Azerbaijan has made amendments to the classification of categories and administrative positions of public bodies.

Amendments to the law "On civil service" were adopted on a parliamentary meeting on Friday.

Amendments to the law are specification of existing classifications, the chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building, Ali Huseynli, said.

The draft states that public bodies should be classified in the highest and the five categories. Under the current law, the classification of public bodies is conducted in seven categories.

In Azerbaijan, the highest bodies of legislative, executive and judicial branches are included in the highest classification. Thus, the President's Administration, Parliament and the Constitutional Court are included in the classification of public bodies of the highest category.

The Supreme Court, the Supreme parliament of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan Accounting Chamber, the Apparatus of the Judicial Council, the Apparatus of the Commissioner (Ombudsman) for Human Rights are included in the first category.

Another change is associated with the transfer of central executive bodies from the fifth category into the second.

The Supreme Court of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, the relevant executive authority body of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Apparatus of the Commissioner (Ombudsman) for Human Rights of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijani courts of appeal, the apparatus of the Central Election Commission, the secretariat of the anti-corruption Commission of Azerbaijan, the relevant bodies of executive power, the apparatus of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting are assigned to the second category.

The relevant executive authorities, their local departments, bodies within their control and subordination, district (city) courts will be included in the fourth category, state agencies and public services created under relevant executive authorities, local offices of organs which are operated or subordinated to relevant executive authorities, representatives of the territorial-administrative divisions of the executive authorities will be referred to the fifth category of public bodies.

Under the changes, the local district and city courts will be transferred from the seventh to the fourth category, the courts for serious crimes, administrative-economic and military courts will be included in the third category of public bodies.

It is proposed that administrative positions have been attributed to the highest and the seven classifications. Under current law, administrative positions are divided into nine classifications.
