The Azerbaijani National Olympic Committee announced a primary work plan in the event of Baku being chosen as the venue for holding the Olympic Games in 2020.

The activities planned by Azerbaijan are reflected in the bid book, the candidate, but if Baku is chosen as a candidate city at the next stage, these projects will be expanded, the National Olympic Committee vice-president Chingiz Huseynzade told Trend today.

"If we pass the next stage as a candidate city, we will start thinking about new projects," he said." Of course, the allocated budget will be increased."

According to the primary plan, if Baku is chosen to host the Olympics, its campus will be built on an area of 150 hectares. At present the 'Azerneftyag' refinery is in that territory. The main Olympic stadium for 60,000 people will be built in the Boyukshor settlement.
"After Baku is registered as a candidate city, we will become more actively engaged in advertising our capital," he said. "It is necessary to prepare the bid books, shoot some movies and prepare presentations."

Besides Baku, Istanbul, Doha, Madrid and Tokyo all compete for the right to host the Olympic Games in 2020.

The executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will name the cities that will receive the status of candidates in Canada, Quebec, on May 23, 2012.
Huseynzade said that at present, the presentation of Baku in Quebec, Canada is underway. "We do not know whether we pass, but we are doing everything possible towards this end."
