Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan is conducting works on bank consolidation in Neftchala and Salyan regions and in the delta of the Kura river. There is no more risk of flooding in these places, the Minister for Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov told reporters on Sunday.
According to him, bank consolidation and dredging works are already completed in the aforementioned areas, however, there are still some dangerous places along the Kura river in Salyan region, where concrete dams are to be installed. This work will last several years and upon completion of it, no devastating floods will take place in any area. This process will be followed by pumping groundwater from houses of local population.
