Members of the National Preventive Group for the Torture Prevention under the Ombudsman's Office have once again visited opposition member Nemat Panahli, serving his sentence in prison No 17 of the Penitentiary Service of the Justice Ministry, upon his personal and his wife's appeal, the Ombudsman's office told Trend on Saturday.

It was revealed that a decision was made on January 19, 2013 to transfer Nemat Panahli to a punishment cell for a month, and that the convicted person has repeatedly violated the detention rules.

Panahli added that no physical pressure was put on him, but the prison chief has demonstrated biased attitude towards him.

He also said that he had begun a hunger strike, but he did not make a written statement.

Panahli asked members of the group to create the conditions to meet with his family.

National Preventive Group members advised the management and a doctor to pay attention to Panahli's state.

An agreement was reached for Panahli to meet with his family members.
